  the 'Mook and Maas' panorama

Welcome dear guest,

This website is written in the English language and entirely devoted to Ham Radio. My name is Gert-Jan van den Berg (Ham Radio: PA2P), born on the 14th of July 1965, and I am licensed since 1988. I have the A-class NL license/CEPT-class, morsecode included, which means that I can operate on all bands in all modes.

I
live in Mook, near Nijmegen, which is in the south-east part of The Netherlands, 3 kilometers from Germany. The WW locator of this location is JO21wr. You can find my Google Earth coordinates here. This is also the region where they keep the internationally well-known event Wandelvierdaagse (Four Days Marches).

I am married with Willeke and we have two daughters named Puck and Pleuntje (2P in my callsign!). I started in 1988 with my D-license as PD0PVK. After my second exam this became PE1NSJ. When I passed all the telegraphy tests I got the 'PA3GCL' callsign.

A couple of years ago our ministry of economic affairs changed the rules with regard to prefixes and suffixes (vanity callsigns). So I changed my callsign into PA1PP and finally into PA2P. I don't think it will ever change into PA2!

I am active from different locations, in Europe, such as F/PA2P in France, DL/PA2P in Germany, HA/PA2P in Hungary, OK/PA2P in the Czech Republic, I/PA2P in Italy and 9A/PA2P in Croatia. In 2007 I apllied for a Croatian radio amateur license and since september of that year I got the callsign 9A8PA.

I have always been interested in DX, particularly in the pursuit of new prefixes. I collect real QSLs and reply 100% direct or via the bureau.
I operate mainly digital modes (PSK, RTTY, CW etc.), but do occasionally pick up a microphone. I use the bands from 10 up to 80 meters, depending on propagation. My favorite bands are 15, 17 and 40 meter (21.070 Mhz, 18.100 Mhz and 7.035 Mhz).

The main rig is an ICOM IC-775 DSP, running 200 Watts of output. My antenna farm represents a typical 'low pistol' station, due to urban space restrictions.....  Go to the following page.........
